Five Fact Friday

1. Remember how much I love the Wen cleansing conditioner but the price stopped me from repeat purchasing?  Well, now Herbal Essence has a copy cat.  You can buy it on Amazon for around $5 a bottle. I am happy with the results, but the smell could be better. It is a bit medicinal.

2. I am sort of anti sunscreen.  I mean obviously I am about sun protection and blocking the skin cancer, but I cannot handle the sunscreen on my face. The burning. The breakouts. The chemicals even. I have turned into a hat girl. UNTIL..a friend sold me some of her Soothe Mineral Sunscreen SPF 30 by Rodan +Fields.  Now, she sold me this for $15 and it is usually $45 so I am really going to have to debate about a repeat purchase but this feels so good. And it doesn't stink. And it doesn't burn. And it works. I could even say I enjoy putting it on in the morning.

3. I have done 2 more weeks of Blue Apron (3 total). I couldn't stop myself.  Yes, the price is expensive, but I had 2 busy weeks and to my door and fun recipes and pre measured could not be beat.  We made the Salmon Po Boy Sandwiches with Remoulade and the Calzones this week.  Hunter has been happy with all 6 meals I have cooked.  I have too.  They are easy to modify and make kid friendly.  I am going to exercise self control and skip the next few weeks and do my own grocery shopping and meal planning.

4. I was getting myself all pumped up to do some "school" type of activities from home for the month of August because Wyatt doesn't have school that month and I am dreading how I am going to get my work done.  So I went off researching activities, and I came across this home schooling mom website that had an article that I randomly read. The article is titled "What Curriculum Should I Use for My 4 Year Old".  And it made me check myself.  Settle down. You are already doing the things you should be doing.  Just have fun.  Don't be all school up in his face. Whew.  Ok. Relax. I won't be printing out little packets for Wyatt. To summarize...

eschoolmom.com/what-curriculum-should-i-use-for-my-4-year-old/#sthash.ap3LLoeg.dpuf
  • Read to your child
  • Play with Legos
  • Go for a walk
  • Go to the library
  • Walk in the woods
  • Visit museums
  • Go to the zoo
  • Play at the park or in the back yard
  • Play with maps
  • Play with Playdoh
  • Play dress up
  • Play games
  • Listen to him
Halleluiah, I do these things just about every week so we are doing something the same as this lady and maybe even right?  Now, go play your legos so I can get my work done Wyatt!!!!!

5. My nephew came to visit us for a few days this week.  So far we have made ice cream, played outside, destroyed the house, splashed in the kiddie pool, busted $10 of water balloons in 5 minutes, gone on walks and bike rides and gator rides, visited a splash pad, eaten popsicles, watched a minecraft video or 3(this is all new to me), done some toy bickering, and had a fabulous time.
The only pic of all 3 because I haven't had as much time to be on my phone with 3 around.

Five Fact Friday

1. Sometimes your house has power surges for a few months and you ignore it. Then one day, the surges get really bad. Like poltergiest bad. Your appliances don't run. Your lights are super dim.  Then they get lightening bright.  Sometimes your 3 year old will be napping in your bed and your 1 year old wakes up, and you smell fire. AND THEN, you get to have a practice fire drill.  I chose to save my 2 children.  Then I went back inside and grabbed our important paper fireproof-ish box. Then I went back in and got my truck keys, my phone, and my computer (kinda silly).  I was ready to BAIL.  GET OUT.  Then I started doing the what if I am imagining this talk.  If I call someone, they are just going to say yah lady, you don't have enough to do. Sure the lights are flickering in your house and you smell fire.  I made my neighbor come over to smell and vouch for my sanity and she said you are not crazy..stay out.  So anyways, my house didn't burn down, the power company had to come replace / fix a transfomer and all is right.  This is your friendly reminder to think about what you would save in a pinch.  And some pics to prove that I am not that crazy lady.

2. I did a week of Blue Apron.  I was very impressed with the quality of ingredients. I enjoyed the creativity of the recipes.  The recipes were detailed. The packaging could not be easier (no measuring). The price is expensive, but hey it is food delivered to your door and it is FUN.  I might not do many more weeks in the future (because of the price), but this would be a great gift for a new mom or a person who likes to cook but may be a little sick or not able to get out.
The packaging

Korean meatballs

Chicken, spring quinoa, rhubarb chutney
3.  You should make this coffee protein shake.  I need to follow the Serious Eats perfect Migas recipe. I want to try this quinoa salad since I finally found a quinoa recipe I like (thanks Blue Apron).

4.
Wheeee
5.
Wheee

Happiest Friday.

Five Fact Friday

1. All right stop, collaborate and listen. Ice is back with a brand new invention ......ICED ICED COFFEE.  I, the non coffee drinker, am totally obsessed with iced coffee.  Or iced lattes. I am not sure what the correct terminology is.  Half coffee (sometimes decaf because I am silly like that), half milk, and a tablespoon of some sort of flavor.  My current fave is Amaretto/almond syrup.  How Sweet Eats has 4 DIY flavors so I used her almond recipe. I would like to try some of her other flavors.  Next week perhaps.  When I need to be healthier, I just pour in some almond extract and a tiny bit of Stevia (the only non sugar sweetener I can sorta tolerate) instead of the syrupy syrup.   The cold brew coffee method is necessary. Or you just use Hunter's gourmet coffee leftovers. Or I suppose you can settle for Starbucks or local coffee shop if you are into that kind of thing.  I am not sure how long this coffee love phase will last, but here I am.

2. So most of you know, I sorta accidentally published a swimsuit try on pic to Facebook.  I have mostly recovered from this.  I was really truly horrified when it happened.  Like my body felt like it had been crying all day.  My heart rate was up.  I was super embarrassed. I consider myself to be a moderately tech savvy person, but I took a try on pic to send to a friend and my kids or my butt posted that pic to facebook.  The side of the suit had these lace up things to add some sexiness, and I felt like I could not pull this look off.  I had my undies on underneath the swim suit, no hair done, no sucking in, just raw real life swim suit try on.  One of my friends called me to discuss this later on that day (I heard from soo many people) and had me laughing so hard I started crying.  They so perfectly described my morning of just wanting to find a nice suit to look good in while my kids were running around and crying and sorta eating breakfast.  They challenged me to put it up and own it and be proud because that is life and things could be much worse and all that...so I did.  I let it gooooooo.  Let it goooo. I submitted my story to a Fashion Blog that I follow that actually recommended moms to wear this suit.  I submitted it for 2 reasons.....1. can you imagine many things worse than accidentally publishing a swimsuit selfie and 2. life be crazy, be sorta happy with your life, and your body and all that good stuff.
Well, the comments I got from friends and the comments I got from strangers were just so kind and uplifting, I can't even describe them.  It was so much more than the "blah blah you look nice".  I can't really describe it, but I need to save all of the comments and come back and read them when I am feeling blue.  It was like kindness pouring out of people and of course everyone checking their phones to see what pics their kids could accidentally publish too.  You may read my horribly embarrassing story here if you would like to.  If you would like to read the comments, you will find that Angela has a much worse story than I do, and she handled it like a rock star.  #swimsuitselfie #atleastitwasntanudie

3. I have perfected a grapefruit smoothie.   Makes 2. Freeze one. Let it thaw over night and have the next day.
  • 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • 1 grapefruit segmented
  • 6 strawberries
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • 6 ice cubes
 4. Kate and her accessories.  She just really really loves shoes, hats, other wearable items.  Check this outfit out.  She WANTED to wear her life jacket.  She REFUSED to let me put shorts on.  She WANTED to wear her winter boots that are too small.   She WANTED to play in the front yard. So we did. And fun was had by all.  And the neighbors can have more things to laugh about and discuss
5. Our summer break so far...

Five Fact Friday

Short and sweet today.  Semi sick kid. Work to do. Laundry to fold. :)

1. Still rocking the button down shirts so he can do his own buttons. Needs a haircut. Takes naps in my bed now.  Squishes up against me in my bed so much that I have a hard time typing on the computer. I usually have to put the computer up and wait until I hear snores.  Finally understands which days are school days....just in time to change everything up for summer school.
2. He has been off for the past few weeks. I keep thinking he is getting sick and then it turns into nothing. Well, it is actually something because he has been running a low fever for the past day and a half. I think he will bounce back in a day or so
3. Dresses at the playground are so impractical.  How do girls do it? Messy playground hair. She does all the big slides and stairs now. I just make sure she doesn't fall out of the big openings on the side.
4.We have hair coming in!  And it is curly hair.  Not sure if this is humidity or real curls.  And why aren't there more racer back t's for girlies.  Too cute. :)
5."And which type would he like" says the sample lady to Hunter holding baby Kate wearing a pony tail. She was probably wearing pink. Well...it is just about full out mosquito season here so our times of playground and outside play are coming to an end.  There are only about 2 indoor play options round here so that won't get old.

Five Fact Friday

1. Update on the grey Tom Wedge shoes.  I wore them for the first time ever last night. Hunter got home on time ish to a totally demolished house, 2 fed and bathed kids, and laundry that he folded the day before not put up.  Then I got to sneak over to a birthday / mom's night out at the sushi place.  If you wear them with jeans, everything is A ok.  If you try with shorts (like pinterest says) you look like you are trying to "go somewhere".   I am not that level of dressy or trendy or something. Side note, I tried not to complain to Hunter about the chocolate pudding that was left all over the table and floor, but I failed.  Then he kindly pointed out that he put up the laundry, put 2 kids to bed, did all of the dishes, and did something important with his new 4 wheeler tire.  Not sure why I thought the pudding was important. It is still on the floor.  I only mop on weekends...or if glass breaks.

2. Moving along with the fashion blogging (ha). I did break down and try the Everlane V neck tees ($15).  I wanted to see if they were any better than the Target V neck tees.  I think they are going to be better.  The cotton is better quality.  They don't seem to lose their shape after a full day of 2 kids dragging on your shirt.  They fit nicer.  I need to wash them a few more times to see how they hold up.

3. For Mother's Day, Hunter allowed me an all expenses paid trip to Target by myself.  I spent an hour and a half there.  I wanted another set of sheets for our bed.  I only buy white sheets these days, but one of our sets got a hole in the sheet that your foot could get stuck in.  I debated between the $49 325 organic thread counts and the $99 600 thread counts.  I went with the 325 thread count sheets since these were just going to be the backups.  WRONG. They are like laying on organic cardboard.  Every time somebody moves , the sound resembles crinkling a potato chip bag.  Do these things get softer? Did I just waste $50 bucks? Will I get used to it?  Apparently I always buy nice sheets and I forgot.  600 threads for life.

So what else am I snobby about?  Hmmm...fried eggs.  You can cook them in bacon grease, you can cook them in butter, you can cook them with a drizzle of oil but FOR THE LOVE...turn down the heat and do not make them brown burnt bubbly crispy disgusting eggs.  You should only see white and yellow when eating...no brown.

Also, tea steeping.  Do not ever never ever never leave your tea bag in the mug for the duration of your drinking.  White tea steeps 1 minute.  Green tea steps 2 to 3 minutes. Black tea steeps 3 to 5 minutes.  You go ahead and enjoy your cup o bitter while I sip my delicate tea leaves steeped at the appropriate temperature for the correct duration.

4.  Finally tried the children's museum....Wyatt's favorite thing was stuffing a ball in this machine and watching it go up the vacuum, down some ramps, flip some gears, throw it over here, and come back...this thing has a name that I can't think of right now. Kate's favorite thing was chunking a ball down a hole to learn about centrifugal motion or something like that.

5. This weekend needs to be a weekend of getting stuff done.  Like working and errands and fixing. Maybe some cleaning. Some to do list smackdown.  Wish us luck. Hope your weekend is relaxing. Or productive. Whatever you need.

Five Fact Friday

Did you miss me?  I have been busy doing real work for work...sorta.  I have also been doing some traveling.

1. I thought I would try to describe some of the insanity of one of my tasks at work.  Task: Get a server running in our test environment so that we can make sure all of our existing systems work with changes to one of the systems.  Sounds easy enough...even for me that has dealt with this type of task before.  I forgot. Computers are possessed. Servers are possessed. The stars have to align. The moon has to be waxing crescent. I have to squeeze a drop of blood orange juice into my eye without blinking. I have to move the R button on my computer and replace it with the M button...and then...maybe...I can complete the task.

First, I had to get access to 3 different web servers.  Each server has to simulate a different type of environment. Then I had to wipe out everything on the servers and put the mostest recentest currentest code and configuration on each server. Then I had to make about 7 applications work and run across the 3 servers and talk to each other happily.  I got about 5 of the applications working with no problem.  The other 2 require troubleshooting.  What has changed? Nothing. What is missing? Nothing. Well lets just try to reinstall it.  Ok. That didn't work. Well, lets try rebooting. Ok. That didnt work.  Debug debug.  Read error logs.  Read error logs.  Restart.  Give up for the weekend.

Come back on Monday. The applications are alllll working.  I did nothing. Nobody did anything.  The magical unicorn touched one of the servers and all was healed. Before I am able to submit my transaction and prove that everything works just like it should, I have to point to an alternate database because there is a migration happening.  Some server needs some upgrade. Or some server ran out of space. Or some unicorn didn't touch the right server.  So I make my little change and prepare to test.  I get some database error messages.  I troubleshoot, troubleshoot, debug, debug, debugzzzz and then I admit defeat and talk to the server team.  The server team tells me "hey, you need a new server".  So I give up my old server that I did so much magic on to make work, and I take my new server and I start the process over again.  This time the magic unicorn doesn't show up.  I never get it working.  We are now going on week 3 of me trying to get the systems running in test and it is just not important anymore.  If we were going to break something, we would have already broken it. Hopefully.   I take a deep breath.  I reassure myself that I am intelligent. I move on to my next task.  Now, I am going to have to make 2 applications work with a new application.  I will be writing code and having to learn how to use some new applications. I hope the unicorns show up.

2. I was clueless about this little cloth diapering fact.  My diapers started leaking.  They weren't snug on the legs.  I was confused.  I did some research.  The elastic wears out. The 3 year mark seems to be the trend.  I guess they can't take all of the hot water washing and occasional drying when lazy.  They sell replacement elastic parts (at least Bum Genius does) and if you have a mother in law that is willing to devote lots of time to this annoying task, your diapers will be good as new. Look at the difference with new elastic vs old elastic.

3. Wyatt had a bit of a traumatic weekend, but turns out he only remembers the good parts.  He got stuck on a 4 wheeler at dark. He lost his hat on the boat. He ran out of gas in the boat and had to get towed to a boat ramp.  You know what he told me on the way home? I had a good time this weekend. Ha ha.  Good. He sure didn't act like it during the actual moment.  He could sense the stress I guess.

4. Kate had a bit of a traumatic weekend too. She got an ant bite that I never would have taken her to the dr for, but she had a checkup and the dr kinda flipped out and said it looked like staph.  He gave me an antiobiotic, and some topical cream, and some special soap to use.  He wouldn't give her the vaccinations. At first, I thought he was being a little silly, but as the day went on that ant bite got redder and redder and it turned into a big knot.  I started to believe him.  Everything looks under control now. While fighting the staph, I let her fall on a pine cone and shred her leg up.  Can't win.  Kate has been happy. Barely cried at pine cone incident.  She is an excellent kid, girl, baby, toddler.  She just needs to improve on the not sleeping in her own bed area so we can travel more.
Please if anyone sees a puppy like this somewhere, buy it because I don't know what to do if I can't get another one
5. I bought some grey wedge Toms last year when they were on sale.  I still haven't worn them.  When I put them on it looks like I am trying to dress up, and I am really just trying to stay at my house all day, or take my kiddo to preschool, or survive a grocery store trip.  When I look on pinterest, everyone looks all glammed up.  Someone help me figure out how to wear these.

Five Fact Friday

1. Have you seen the mom rant about being sold too much shtuff from online facebook parties?  That drama sparked this article titled Nails, Mascara, and Other Reasons I Won't Unfriend You On Facebook. I think it is an interesting perspective, and am hoping all my friends and family can forgive me for selling them so much stuff at my online facebook parties.  I am not sure how I got into all these things.  Apparently this is a SAHM thing.  Perhaps it makes me feel informed, and that I have important opinions, and I stay current with jewelery, makeup, and nail trends because welllll my 3 year old and 1 year old don't care about my opinions.  Perhaps it is easier to buy everything online than actually try to take your chilluns to a store.  Perhaps it is just stinkin fun to spend money and see pics of your friends trying new products.

2. One of my friends asked me if there is any food I don't eat.  I had to think long and hard about foods that I don't like. I came up with my list.  Goat cheese, blue cheese, and turnips.  I think of myself as a bit of a foodie, so I am surprised that I can't get into goat cheese and blue cheese buuuuuttt I can't.

3. I think I am growing into my mom role finally.  I am getting better at playing put the sock on, take the sock off, my foot, your foot. I just played put the cup lid on and take it off for 30 minutes with Kate and I didn't even mind it.  We went on a walk this morning and she pushed her tiny baby stroller for 5 minutes. Then it turned into mommy push me in the tiny baby stroller and hurt your back for 30 minutes.  I enjoyed it. I am literally getting up right this moment to change a poopie diaper. I am still in a good mood and these are the highlights of the morning.  I used to want to poke my eye out when this was my morning.  Yayyy me.  I knew I could do it.
4. I really struggle to make friends with and chat up other SAHMs. Here are the similar interests I have...shopping at Target, ordering off of Amazon, online facebook parties, and keeping kids alive.  Here are the differences I have...everything.   Or maybe my shyness and awkwardness always wins.  Or maybe I can't ever hang out with them because I don't skip naps or miss bedtime appointments.  And you know there was a rumor out there that I was pro cry it out so I'm on the naughty mommy list.  ;)

5. Apparently I am in a dip mood because I pinned Sun Dried Tomato Dip and Dill Pickle Dip. And how does mushroom ceviche sound?

Go forth and enjoy your weekend.  And eat something delicious.  And maybe lift some weights. Or go on a bike ride.

Five Fact Friday

Instead of figuring out why my house smells, I have decided to grace you with a few life updates. I think its my trash can....ugh...today is trash day.

1. Most people use their Blendtecs to make green smoothies or almond butter or something to better their life.  I am on a triple thick milkshake kick.  I am talking blending brownies up into the ice cream and other silliness.  This started on St. Patty's Day with a mint chocolate chip one and I dream about what is next.  Peanut butter and chocolate.  Strawberries with nutella.  ICE CREAM! IIII SCREAM.

I am having to eat stuff like this for lunch so my pants will still fit.  So worth it.
2.  Wyatt learned to write his name.   I sure didn't teach it to him.  Thanks preschool!  Now he is obsessed with writing people's names.  We spend our evenings after dinner writing letters with chalk. After dinner has been kinda nice since the time change.  Instead of putting kids straight into the bath tub after dinner we do a wipe down and go play or go on a walk.  I could get used to this.
3.  After 2 weeks of suffering, Kate finally learned to extend her one nap a day.  She now naps 2 to 3 hours a day starting at 12ish.  I just flip out when we have to drive anywhere because a 2 minute power nap can ruin EVERYTHING.  Look into the light Kate...noooooo.  Stay awake.  Throw toys at her.  Shove snacks in her hand.  When she gets a good nap she wakes up happy and gets to stay up late enough to see daddyyyyy (her favorite).
4.  I didn't know that bed time stalling developed at 15 months but this is what Kate yells when you lay her down before a nap or bed time.  INK INK INK (drink please).  DEAT DEAT DEAT (eat please) BUPPY BUPPY BUPPY (here is my puppy that I cuddle with).   Her other main vocabulary words are tractor, mower, cheese, tank you, book, Dusty (like the airplane), bow bow, hat, catch, ball, and shoes.  Kate's favorite book to read is a Trucks book with little sliding flaps...is there a girl equivalent to this?  Animals maybe?  I need to browse the flip book section.
Likes to rock any 'hat'.  Will play in the front yard with her or Wyatt's bike helmet on.

5. And lets talk about foooood...HEB Pork Taco Meat "Al Pastor"  not soo shabby if you put lots of pico and some avocado on those tacos....too spicy for the kiddies though.  Until today I only ate my cabbage in cole slaw, cabbage soup, or turbodog braised BUT I heard someone talking about fried cabbage.  I looked it up...it is cabbage cooked in a few sliced of bacon (and grease of course) and it is delish!  So bring on the cabbage..and bacon.
Tree climbing with our best neighbors...every day.

Five Fact Friday

1. I have discovered the secret to accepting time changes.  Go on a trip...and then your kids will be so tired they will go to sleep whenever you put them to bed.  I need to remember this trick for next year.   So take a trip, have spring break, and convert a baby from 2 naps to 1 all during time change....yay!
I'm not sleepy mommmmzzzzzz

2. And just in case you thought fun Janet does not exist anymore....here is proof of fun Janet and sleepy baby Kate.  Doesn't my face just say FUN? My hair says East Texas.  My clothes say 2002. Kate liked to roll around on the ol 4 Wheeler but my thumb only lasted about 5 minutes with this 1988 throttle.

3.  We went to eat at a BBQ joint for dinner one night this week.  The serving girls asked if we wanted jalapenos, onions, and pickles.  We said yes.  All the things.  Wyatt said jalapenos please so the girls made a big deal of fixing him a special cup of his own jalapenos.  He sat down at the table and pulled his cup of jalapenos over, pulled one out, and took a bite.  Poor guy.  I couldn't stop laughing but he was in so much pain.  He looked just like the cartoons do when somebody eats something too spicy.  He made a cry face for a few seconds, chugged some water, and stuffed some potato salad in his mouth.  I tried one of the jalapenos and they might have been the hottest pickled jalapenos we have ever eaten.  I still want to laugh and cry at the same time when I remember him eating his special jalapenos they fixed just for him.

4. I got a new fancy Blendtec for a birthday present and I am going bananas.  All those green smoothies have perfect consistency.  I am blending raw almonds into my smoothies.   Completely frozen fruit...not a problem.  Hunter always says I don't need one.  Janet always says she wants one.  Janet makes at least 2 smoothies a week.  I think it is a perfect addition to the kitchen.  Has anyone tried the soup setting yet?

5.  Kitchen wins this week.  Hamburger / Salisbury steak with mushrooms and onions served over mashed potatoes.  Best way to switch up my ground beef so far.  Model after pioneer woman if you need a starting point.  Also, I have never tried White Enchiladas and this sauce was so good I was eating it with a spoon.  I used some leftover pulled pork and chicken to stuff it.  I need to repeat this one.  I paired my enchiladas with Pressure Cooker Spanish Rice

Five Fact Friday

1. I just laid Kate down for her last ever scheduled morning nap.  Wah. This may be more emotional than weaning.  I am going to use the time change and spring break to my advantage and mess with the schedule now.  She is ready.  Our afternoon naps aren't going as well and she is happy awake for a long time in the morning.  The mornings that Wyatt was at school and Kate was napping were so amazing.  Buy bye peace and quiet.  I guess I have to wake up at 5:30 AM on days that I don't wake up at 4:30 AM to get some work done.

2. Wyatt had school today. Hunter had off work today.  We had a very happy drop off but I got a phone call at 9:45.  Wyatt was crying uncontrollably and he wouldn't say why.  He never does so they were worried about him.  Welllll...he just wanted to be home with his daddy that he has missed so much lately.  Breaks my heart a little bit but I am so glad they get to hang out today.  He has had a tough week with an ear infection.

3. Have I mentioned my obsession with Jamberry nail wraps?  I think so.  These nail stickers are the best.  I might only fix my hair twice a week or put on real clothes occasionally but my nails are always looking good.  They last for 2 weeks, easy on, easy off, fun prints.  Love love love.

My Spring Break wraps...come on warm weather

4. I better go pack my bag.  We are going to go visit East Texas for a few days and enjoy some cold and rainy weather with maybe one or nice days thrown in.  Spring Break...never nice weather...what is the deal!

5. Amazon Subscribe and Save for life.  Is anyone interested in knowing what is in my monthly purchases?  I would be glad to share...especially for the items I price compared.  This is really simplifying my life.  When I run to the grocery store...I do the produce, milk, bread, meat lap and I don't have to visit any other rows.

Five Fact Friday

What a random week.  I have a cold (I think). Pretty sure it isn't allergies because I was cold all day and I am not one of those cold all day people.  Wyatt forgot how to behave this week. Kate forgot how to nap. Hunter had to work til forever every night. But somehow I had a pretty positive attitude?? I was all "It's ok that I cooked dinner that I ate and then cooked another kids dinner because they didn't eat what I cooked and then Hunter got home too late to help with dinner bath dishes. I can do this". I wish pizza was healthy because I think that is what I am "cooking" tonight. So onto my five facts.

1.  Wyatt does actually like salad. Spinach or lettuce...no dressing..just picks it up and chomps on it.  This week he told me "I love spinach...it tastes like hot dog".  Ok bud...whatever you have to say to like spinach.

2. During bath time this week I was scrubbing the bottom of his foot and I found a little splinter barely embedded.  When I pulled it out he said "did you get a bone?". Ha!

3. I am a big fan of all of the Jamie Eason workout plans and she came out with a 12 Week Post Pregnancy Trainer.  Where was this when I needed it!?  So very hard to find stuff like this with details and it's free! Side note...she is still nursing at 18 months so she would understand about supply issues and other fun stuff.

4. Hunter is not OCD but he always wants to rearrange the dishwasher when he sees it.  I guess this is his thing.  I wish I was OCD sometimes. I think my house would be a lot cleaner.  The only things I am super into keeping straight are files and photos on my computer and ummm I can't think of a single other thing! Wow.

5. This week I had a few recipe wins.  Honey Sriracha Chicken Thighs,  a Pad Thai that was worth my time but not better than take out (they never are), and some cute little turkey burger sliders that I thought the kids might eat and they didn't. The turkey burgers were from the America's Test Kitchen cook book and they used Ricotta cheese as a binding agent and only flavored with dijon and Worcestershire.  I really liked them this way.
So I ate 3 of these and then 1 more meat patty. Ha!

Five Fact Friday

1. How we spent our Valentine's Day...Whataburger lunch on the beach. Of course I got the #4. So great that they have a meal that comes with jalapenos and cheese by default.

2. How we spent our day after Valentine's Day...a short road trip to numb the pain since Hunter had to work.  We ended up at Steak n Shake for lunch after some playground time and it happened to be kids eat free day.  Whaat whaaaaat. I didn't even get a shake though.

3. I had one 5 AM workout at 36 degrees and then the next workout was 68 degrees this week.  So much confusion.  I did start to order some workout gear from ThredUp. I got a new to me running jacket and a couple of tops from Zella. I guess I draw the line at used shorts with the built in undies??
Horrible picture but see the red jacket...I like.
4. Kate growing up stuff....she does all of the slides and stairs at the playground. She is starting to say a lot of words. She can imitate Wyatt playing most of his toys with the right sound effects. When Wyatt is upset she goes up to him and claps her hands and holds out her arms like I do.  She talks gibberish in his face to calm him down and it just makes him madder.  She still walks around the house putting on shoes, bows, jewelry and insists that you do the same.

5. I am working on shortening Kate's morning nap and stretching the afternoon nap because it is almost time for 1 nap here.  I am not ready to figure out how to work from home without her morning nap, but I can't send her to school in September if she still does. I think she is just about ready.

Have I bored you enough yet?  Greaaaat. My job is done here.  Happy Friday!
