Five Fact Friday

Hi Y'all!

1. As for entertainment in my life this week....I am currently glued to the TV watching Gravity AND it is stressful. Can you imagine floating in space with nothing to save you? The despair. The desperation. The panic. I guess I will stick to Earth.  Also, I am reading non stop...well by non stop I mean every night instead of crashing...current read is Fangirl...so far so good.  What to read next....that is the question.

2. I finally formed some kind of "strategy" for some kind of "new roles" I can perform at work and approaching this topic is taking all of my courage but the "stars won't align" and I haven't been able to talk to my boss man.  I know stressing out about this is silly but my work self esteem is really low.

3. Lots of kitchen success this week. Baked Citrus Chicken was an easy win..throw partially thawed chicken tenders in the oven and cook while playing outside. Restaurant Style Chipotle Salsa...seriously only took 5 minutes.  Spaghetti Carbonara with leftover ham....ok, Hunter did not love this but me and the kids tore it up.  Also, hard boiled eggs on toast with tomato and sriracha...so goood...inspired by this recipe which looks way better than my shortcut.

4. I really want to start going to our church again, but I don't know what to do about Kate.  It is not frequent enough for her to just get used to it.  She only has a few people on her approved list...and our extended families haven't even made the cut yet.  So we will just get paged...every time.  And it is a bunch of stress.  Maybe we need to find a tiny church where you keep your tiny babies with you. Or maybe I just keep waiting. Or maybe we just cry for an hour every week.

5. Saw this on FB....made me laugh....."Where's the cooking show with the toddler hanging off your leg, screaming for a popsicle, while you try to microwave a vegetable?" So real.

It's Friday...I Am Here

1. Wyatt is a sweet big brother...most of the time. He puts toys by her crib on the floor before naps since I tell him she can't have toys or animals in her bed yet.  He puts up with her wanting everything he is eating and almost always shares.  He gets her to pick out the shoes we put on before school. He lets her jump and play in his bed. He shares all of his toys. He actually tries to be quiet while she is napping. But the tackling...I don't get it.  He tackles and hugs her to the crying point about 20 times a day.  It could be much worse.

2. Kate...she is really growing up.  Lots of words.  Working on the baby puzzles. Playing toys unassisted. Sleeping great unless we travel. This is nice.  This is fun.  She is eating more than Wyatt at every meal. Sometimes adult sized portions. I am sure we will hit a not as fun phase soon..perhaps the 2 to 1 nap conversion phase.
3. Wyatt asks "how was our dayyyy"  and "what did you do at work today" when Hunter gets home.  Pretty funny. I guess I am that boring traditional wife that asks how was your day. Oh well.  Better than "Here are the kids.  Your turn!"  He is always wanting to help me cook now but the whole "if he cooks it he will want to eat it" doesn't work.  I let him stir the hot pots now. Is that too early?  I feel like he is ready.  Still sticking with the butter knifes for cutting though. :)  After every bath, he tells me he wants to wear his hoodie towel as a super cape.  Every bath.  Every day.  Like I might forget or deny him the privilege.
Instagram repeat...but he helped make baba ghanoush and wouldn't even touch it.
4. Kate still likes shoes, hats, and socks.  She loves push toys and ride on toys.  Her favorite toy might still be a ball.  She might have said tractor for the first time yesterday and she makes a "brmmm brmmmm" sound.  She jumped on her cousin's trampoline last weekend and had a great time with that.

5.   As for my update, I am still debating about the work.  I am still making it to my 5 AM workout classes. I am currently in a not cleaning phase. I am currently in a cooking phase. I am currently in a want to go to bed at 8:30 PM phase. The dishes are beating me (or Hunter) down every night.

Happy Friday!!!

Five Fact Friday

The sun was not out all week... so this was a long, dreary, stay in your daytime jammies (I have standards), wish your truck had heat, kinda week.  We made it though so on to the rambles.

1. I need a work intervention.  My work used to feel valuable and meaningful and now for some reason I do not add value. I had a great role that allowed me to work flex hours from home and not require me to be super involved with phone calls and meetings all day but for some reason that role is just not working out anymore. I guess this is ok and maybe expected because I have been doing this role for close to 3 years now and things do change. I don't know if I need to step into the more challenging and time consuming roles or if I need to not work right now.  Sooooo torn. I have decided to pray about it and think about it and decide about it by end of January so I can talk to my work peeps.  So much guilt about this work thing!

2. I have cooked at least 10 different tortellini soup recipes because they always sound so good and look so easy and sorta healthy and they always disappoint BUT I finally found a good one....Creamy Parmesan Tomato and Spinach Tortellini Soup

3. I need some ideas for good "rest time" activities for Wyatt.  He is really loving puzzles, play-doh, and stamping/coloring/cutting paper but I can only repeat those so many times.  He is getting better ish at playing alone in his room during the afternoon while Kate naps. Maybe I can pinterest tonight.

4. Citrus season.  Lemon water every day.  Orange smoothies.  Grapefruit. Dare I try this Grapefruit Smoothie?

5. I lost our video parent unit baby monitor in our house between 2nd nap and bedtime about 3 weeks ago.  I just got a new one in October.  I have looked everywhere my brain can think of.  I dug through all of the trash and recycle before we sent it off, I paced the yard, I looked behind appliances.  Lost, lost, lost my marbles.  I feel really guilty. I tried using an old iPhone monitor in the hallway between their rooms so I can hear them at night but it doesn't do good at live streaming.  It cuts off with alerts. It messed up my 4:30 AM alarm so I missed my morning workout.  Wyatt was crying this morning for a while because he needed to go poop but it wasn't "morning time".  So I asked Hunter, and he said I can get another one. We are using credit card reward money so I feel a little less guilty???  Maybe I should buy a set of these Key Finder Thingies or I could try out the Tile to help me locate lost items around the house.  I am thinking one for the Roku remote, the baby monitor parent unit, my keys, my kindle, and maybe a few of Wyatt's toys he always always can't find.  Anybody try these yet?

Five Fact Friday - New Years Stuff

1. I wouldn't say that I have any new years resolutions exactly but somehow over school break and all of the holidays I got even lazier. I was throwing goldfish at the kids every day and saying here "enjoy your snack" so I can get stuff done (cook dinner, wrap presents, clean).  I am planning to feed them less goldfish. I keep trying to hide the goldfish in the pantry and find better alternatives.  Yes, fruit is healthy, but it doesn't really help with hunger unless I smother it in peanut or almond butter so I prefer fruit with meals. And I don't have the will power to do major cleanup after meals AND snacks (full kid and table wipe downs) so I haven't really come up with any brilliant ideas yet.  Still....down with goldfish.

2. I did buy these reusable pouches that I plan to put my own yogurt and applesauce in.  Kate drinks tons of yogurts and applesauces and it is so much cleaner than giving her a bowl and a spoon so I just can't resist.  I can also give her greek yogurt mixed with honey or my own fruit blends instead of flavors like strawberry milkshake and banana explosion....blech.  They clean easy...but takes them forever to dry.  Hopefully they are worth it.

3. So this isn't really a resolution, but my boot camp class discontinued the 7:00 PM class. Waaaahhh.  Hunter would never get home on time for me to go to the 6:15 PM class so I am going to start the 5 AM class.  It is going to be painful and the class is going to be more cardio based and less lifting based so I am a little sad about that.  Aaannnd they don't play music in the 5 AM class. You have to listen to all of the peppy 5 AM people chatting it up and breathing hard.  Yes, I am a morning person but I always struggle with morning workouts.  Who can tell me how to make it better? Do I need to eat before? Drink something snazzy?  I am not waking up earlier than 4:30 just to eat something.

4. I dropped my phone in the toilet (and it still works) but I am letting it dry and detoxify before I power it on again so I have no mundane day in the life photos to share with you.  Instead, I will share a Wyatt at 14 months photo so I can see how much he looks like Kate.
5. My sister bought me a book for Christmas, and I got into reading again. Reading..oh how I missed you. Anyone have book recommendations? I just started The Lightening Thief. Greek mythology meet Harry Potter.
