Eat Yer Veggies

Some attempts to get Wyatt to eat more veggies....

Uno:
Lisa and Dylan taught me this one.  Lightly coat spinach with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Lay flat on a baking sheet and cook at 250 degrees for about 20 minutes.  They are like little papery salty chips.  I loved them.  Hunter tolerated them.  Wyatt spit them out. FAIL!

Two:
I plan to try the chard chip version like so.  What are your favorite chard recipes?

C:
We had snap peas and flank steak sliced thinly and marinated in soy sauce.  Dee-lish-us and Wyatt actually liked the snap peas.  Perhaps he just needed some tasty steak to tempt him. (Sorry veggie-tarians).

Four:
Do tomatoes count as vegetables because Wyatt will eat a container of grape tomatoes in 2 days?

Six Minus One:
Dare I try turnips again? I like turnip greens.  I do not care for turnips.  The in laws have an amazing garden so I came home with about 6 turnips.  I googled "how to make turnips taste good".  Maybe some of these?  Maybe this turnip puff?  Maybe diced and cooked like breakfast potatoes as recommended by my mommy-in-law?  Wish me luck...bleh!

Send me your toddler or adult veggie tricks on the double.  Now that we live close to the in laws we will have a lifetime supply of veggies.  I am not kidding.

2 Heartbreaks in 2 Days

We spent our weekend with the families since they had furniture, food, and fun.  Everybody had a great time, and then the party was over because we had to get back home and prepare for our stuff to be delivered by the movers.

We told Wyatt we were home and walked in the door.  Lots of crying with big tears.  This place isn't a home.  There are no fun people here.  There is no furniture.  We have to eat Subway sandwiches.  He looked so saaaad.  I had the same feelings. Broke my heart a tiny bit.  We came back with 2 garbage bags full of toys from a cousin and he recovered just fine.

The movers arrived yesterday morning pretty early.  3.5 hours later our house and garage were full of B O X E S!  We made a dent in the boxes.  While I was trying to cook dinner and Hunter was trying to unpack some boxes, we let Wyatt play in all the kitchen cabinets.  Well there was screaming and lots of blood.  He was playing in the food processor and cut his finger on the blade.  Blood all over his clothes, my clothes, the floor.  I couldn't see how bad the cut was because of the amount of blood.  Bad Mama! I should have thought about that.

We finally got the bleeding stopped.  The cut was not too bad.  He was acting just fine in an hour and likes to talk about his Bo-Bo and get kisses.  Yikes. Have to child proof while unpacking. Heart break #2.

I have done zero unpacking today, but caught up on work and Wyatt had a superb nap.  Here is a 6 second video with scenes from the new house thanks to Vine.  I am going to show you the mess out of the kindness of my heart.  Maybe I will do a better tour when we are unpacked and organized in a month or seven.

Signs of a small town

I went to the post office to get my mailbox key and there was no line. Has that ever happened before? They told me I had to go to a different town because "they do the keys".

I went to the other town's post office and John was already out for the day but he would rekey the lock and drop it by my house the next day. I asked if they needed proof of residency or names of people living there. Nope!

I had to set up my water and trash service in person! There are no trash rules aside from what day you put it out. Doesn't need a can. Ha ha. Oh and they do recycle if you remember to ask them about it. You can put it in a blue bag...or not.

Well our furniture doesn't get here until Monday and silly me let them pack the router so no real Internet either unless I'm feeling brave.

We have all meals sitting on the floor while Wyatt sits in his booster seat on the floor. He is not impressed!

West bound and down, loaded up and trucking

We made it to the Texas state line! This is always the part that feels the longest. Almost home but not yet.

Wyatt has been a superstar in the car and sleeping at night. Room for improvement in the dining out department, but really... I am so impressed.

We couldn't have made this trip near as efficient or as fun without our two helpers Kathleen and Jamison. Babysitters, drivers, navigators, and cleaner uppers.

Tomorrow we get to go see the house we rented. Hoping it looks as nice as it does from the pics on the web.

Happy Valentines Day

Wyatt says to have lots of chocolate today.  He also recommends cwackers (goldfish), nana (banana), and tees (cheese).

We are busy packing up.  By we, I mean the awesome people that Hunter's company pays to pack our stuff and move us across the country.  If all of our stuff is packed, I guess that means we have to go out for dinner.  Guess we will have dinner at Chick Fil A because we would hate to ruin someones special evening out by bringing a grumpy baby-toddler to a restaurant.

His world is being turned upside down.  Shhh...he doesn't know that he is going to be sitting in a car seat for 20 hours / 1200 minutes / 72000 seconds over the next few days.  Shhhh...he doesn't know that we are moving to a new location.

A Few More Florida Thigs Before We Go.....

 (SUP) stand up paddleboarding

I wanted to try stand up paddleboarding since we got here.  Surprisingly easy and very fun. I wish I had not waited until our last weekend here.

We had Bonefish Grill's Bang Bang shrimp finally.  Jacque, here is a copy recipe.  Looks easy, but I am sure it is not quite as good!

I have already started the "this is the last time I will see .... " here thoughts.

Carpet cleaners come this morning.  I hope I can keep all the toys up for the next few hours.

Freezer has frozen fruit, a little frozen ravioli, Otis Spunkmeyer fundraiser cookies, and a little frozen corn.  We did a good job cleaning it out.   I thought I could avoid another grocery store trip but I have to get a few things to survive this week.

There! I am glad I made time to share the boring details with you today.  Aren't you??

Road Trip Toys - 16 Months

Here's to hoping I bought the ultimate road trip toys for a 16 month old. If not, I panicked and spent too much $.  Rumor is the more buttons and the more noise the better.  Rumor is all traveling adults will be using ear plugs.

Fisher Price Kid Tough Doodler Travel

LeapFrog My Own Leaptop

Mater and McQueen Wheelies

Noisy Trucks Board Book

Aaaaaaaaaaand a tambourine, some maracas, and a microphone from the dollar spot at Tar-jay.

Weekend Update

I had this weird 36 hour fever, achiness thing going starting on Friday.  Laura recommended that I try Starbucks Caramel Apple Spice drink and it might have done the trick.  Now I am stuck dreaming about that drink and wishing I could reinvent.  Sadly, I am not allowed to buy anything else from the store until after we move.

I got on Vine. My profile name is FunFiveMinutesAgo.  Here is one of my vine's from this weekend.  Not sure if I will stick with it or not, but fun for now.

In between dinner time, bath time, cleanup time, bed time, and power outage, I watched a tiny bit of the super-ma-bowl.  We made caprese lasagna rollups according to this recipe. Super good.  Super easy.  Not super-ma-bowly, but who super cares!?

Obviously not my picture. Borrowed from Cooking Classy so you will go try that recipe

Hunter made a lemon meringue pie using America's Test Kitchen's recipe. Husband points up!  Citrus remaining in house down!
Our image, can you tell? ;)

I made another round of spicy grapefruit margaritas.

We cleaned ceiling fans, baseboards, and painted some dump truck worn / blue block scribbled places of the wall.  We even scrubbed the rubber stroller wheel markings off of the front door.  Only one weekend left in our place.
