2 Heartbreaks in 2 Days

We spent our weekend with the families since they had furniture, food, and fun.  Everybody had a great time, and then the party was over because we had to get back home and prepare for our stuff to be delivered by the movers.

We told Wyatt we were home and walked in the door.  Lots of crying with big tears.  This place isn't a home.  There are no fun people here.  There is no furniture.  We have to eat Subway sandwiches.  He looked so saaaad.  I had the same feelings. Broke my heart a tiny bit.  We came back with 2 garbage bags full of toys from a cousin and he recovered just fine.

The movers arrived yesterday morning pretty early.  3.5 hours later our house and garage were full of B O X E S!  We made a dent in the boxes.  While I was trying to cook dinner and Hunter was trying to unpack some boxes, we let Wyatt play in all the kitchen cabinets.  Well there was screaming and lots of blood.  He was playing in the food processor and cut his finger on the blade.  Blood all over his clothes, my clothes, the floor.  I couldn't see how bad the cut was because of the amount of blood.  Bad Mama! I should have thought about that.

We finally got the bleeding stopped.  The cut was not too bad.  He was acting just fine in an hour and likes to talk about his Bo-Bo and get kisses.  Yikes. Have to child proof while unpacking. Heart break #2.

I have done zero unpacking today, but caught up on work and Wyatt had a superb nap.  Here is a 6 second video with scenes from the new house thanks to Vine.  I am going to show you the mess out of the kindness of my heart.  Maybe I will do a better tour when we are unpacked and organized in a month or seven.

Day 1, Check

Day 1 solo parenting, check! I would call it a success.  Slept late, 2 naps, allowed me to do the dishes after dinner. Now if I can just get him to play blocks without me. That is the one toy that someone else HAS to play too.  Don't ask me why...I can't figure it out either.

I captured portions of our day on my iPhone so if you want to see a messy house, shaky video, and cute kid then this is your lucky day.

Let's rock day 2, shall we?

Teach Me How To Dougie

Not sure where Wyatt learned his most recent dance moves. Perhaps a little sesame street?  Please enjoy the most out of focus video you may ever see at a reasonably loud volume level so you can get the full experience.

If you would really like to learn "how to dougie", I enjoyed this video very much.    Say it with me...a one, a two, a tree, and a four.

Happy 1st Birthday Wyatt

Wyatt survived a year. Hunter and I survived a year.  Such a big day full of mixed emotions.  I hope I remember all of the special times we lived through in this first year when he is older.

What's that you say? Oh, I knew you would want to see an un-original video montage of Wyatt's first year.  Here tis!  Enjoy.

When Daddy Comes Home

Most of you probably think that I love it when Hunter comes home because I get a break from Wyatt.  Wrong! I am a perfect mother and never tire of giving my child endless amounts of attention.  I also have no need for adult interaction throughout the day and can easily cook dinner and do laundry with a 9 month old clinging to my legs.

Ok, but seriously, it is so great to see Wyatt's reaction when Hunter comes home.  He usually giggles the second he hears the door opening.  In the video, he gets so excited he forgets how to crawl for a moment.

Favorite Baby Product for Dining With Finger Foods

When your baby doesn't eat from a plate or bowl yet but is in the finger food business, you need a place to put the finger foods when you go out to eat.  The other option is holding the food in your hand and letting them pick from there but when does mama eat in this solution?

Mamas, you should buy this!

This is the Summer Infant Tiny Diner Placemat (sometimes referred to as Kiddopatamus too?).  This keeps the grodies from the table off of your baby and your baby's grody food and fingers off of the table.  It attaches with suction cups that I am sure Wyatt will be able to rip off at some point, but for now hold strong.  There is even a little scoop that hangs off of the end of the table to catch stray cheerios that didn't make it to the mouth.

For those peeps that like to watch home videos, here is a video of Wyatt waking up (rare that I am awake before he is to capture the moment).  This video is in no way related to my Tiny Diner recommendation, but I felt the need to include it because I think it is cute. :)

Dance Baby Dance

I am in Texas right now so I queued up a few things for you to check out while I am gone.  Wyatt has recently started to appreciate music.  He likes to dance a little bit when he hears the beginning of any song with a beat.  It is so funny to me that dancing is something that is natural and almost every baby does.  Somewhere along the line most of us forget that and end up hating dancing.  I didn't get much on video, but here is what I did get if you need another time waster.

Babyproofing V1.1

When Wyatt started scooting (he still doesn't crawl) I made him a padded room that was enclosed with pillows and couches.  The pillows blocked him from bonking his head on the tv stand or the coffee table and kept him in our enclosed area.  Sigh...sweet relief. I can relax and turn my back for 5 seconds.

Fast forward.  He made a game out of jumping over the pillow boundary to escape baby jail (yes somehow he can jump when on hands and knees).  He also uses the pillows to pull himself up.  Lots of head bonking and falling over backwards already. Time for babyproofing v1.1.  Version 1.0 lasted a week or two.

For your viewing pleasure...an awesome iPhone video with real editing of clips together in a lame but quick and easy method.  Enjoy!
