Merry Christmas - 2014

Merry Christmas from our family to yours!
Kate is having her real "first Christmas".
Wyatt does not understand why we have an angel on top of our tree instead of a star. And he doesn't understand why Joseph is not the real daddy of Baby Jesus.
The temperature was in the 70s for most of our Christmas season.
I wonder if Kate will ever be able to tolerate strangers or at least people that aren't the mama or the daddy.

Five Fact Friday

1. This is huge (not really)!  I can do ONE unassisted pull up now.  Goooooo meeeeeeee.

2. Wyatt gave up naps this week. Except for one day...when he fell asleep surrounded by his toys, lights on, mid babble. He made it into his bed somehow.  We are improving on staying in our room for rest time.  It is super tempting to just let him watch TV so I can do my work while Kate naps but I am staying strong...for now.  I really wanted to cry when I noticed it was 4 days in a row no nap. I had ice cream instead.

3. Hunter has been really awesome at getting home by 6:30 PM 2 nights a week so I can get my exercise on.  I only have to nag him once or twice a day.  He finishes up kid dinner and bath if I didn't get to it by then. He gets them both to bed sometimes before I get home. He puts up the food and starts the dishes. It has been really great.  BUT...he did forget to put a diaper on Wyatt one night this week.  The wailing at 12:40 was a shocker.  A quick bed redo and jammie redo and we were back in business. Luckily the pee didn't get on teddy or shamu.  I probably would have just let him snuggle his pee animals at that point.  Kid #1 woke up kid #2 with the wailing on that one.  ALMOST perfect. ALMOST.

4. In case you need to know, I have perfected sweet potato hash browns for breakfast.  Peel your taters first.  Poke 2 or 3 holes in each.  Zap them in the microwave for 1 to 2 minutes depending on how big they are.  Let them cool just enough.  Slice them,  cube them, however them. Heat your cast iron skillet on med-high, put some olive oil in it, put your taters in, add salt and pepper, stir them around.  Then let the taters sit for 4 minutes.  Stir / flip....4 more minutes.  Done.  They really are perfect.  If I am not sharing with kiddos I add cayenne pepper.  I have been serving with fried or scrambled eggs and feeling all paleo.  I am not paleo, but I do have alot of sweet potatoes to use and I love eggs. :)

5. Thursday night I asked Wyatt if he wanted to go to a Christmas party and see Santa and get a present instead of going to school.  He said no. He would rather go to school.  Ha ha!!! I made him skip, and he had a good time.  Hold onto that school love buddy.  Lots of years coming.

A "portrait" at the Moms Group Christmas party. Notice that Wyatt found the only tractor in the church and held onto it.

Shatterproof ornaments yay!

Six Fact Saturday

1. Why does Thanksgiving seem like it was ages ago? I finally worked up the energy to chunk the rest of the pie I never got around to eating.  It reached the max fridge time.  I made turkey tortilla soup and turkey spring rolls with my leftover turkey. They were both leftover turkey worthy.  I also had a cranberry turkey sammy. Wyatt went on his first trip without me and he did great.  I tried to pressure him into saying he missed me but he was sure he didn't.  FINE FINE FINE...I didn't miss you either.  Hunter said he was a pretty good road tripper.  May I suggest you buy this tray for the car seat if traveling with a kiddie soon? Great for working puzzles, driving tractors on, holding food.  Claims to be safe.
This is not Wyatt..but it kinda looks like him

2. I made a horrible mistake.  I bought Wen (you know the infomerical conditioning cleanser stuff) when it was on sale and I had a 20% off Sephora coupon.  And I love it.  But you have to use huge globs of it to work effectively in your hair. So a bottle lasted me about 3 weeks. And that is every other day washing for the most part. So it was really nice but I won't be buying it again. Until the next sale. I searched for DIY Wen..and the only result I got was add 1 parts shampoo to 3 parts conditioner of a sulfate free product.  Nah...thats not the same people. Smells like heaven.

3. So we had some critters in our attic and the owners came and dropped a bunch of Ramik block poison things in to the attic. And you know how those boxes say the rodent goes out of your house to search for water and then boom.  Well, nooooo. They don't.  Lies, lies, lies. So after Thanksgiving, our house smelled of eau de dead mouse/rat.  It was soo horrible.  I felt like I was pregnant.  I was hot and irritated and nauseated. I was diffusing and candling and ugh. Hunter searched for a really long time in the attic and couldn't find it.  A week later its much better. But I bet there are still some alive up there. And they have babies every 21 days. Wah. Go away!

4. Christmas tree is up. Stockings are hung. Lights are on house.  Christmas shopping has started. Have our first party tonight. It is 70 something degrees outside. Yeahhhhhhhh!

5. Boys, boots, and mulch hills

6. Girls, princess dresses, and meyer lemons
